    Biography

    ​Bruce received his B.A. degree summa cum laude with Humanities Honors in 2011. For his M.A. degree, he completed a thesis entitled: “’Left to Reap the Benefits of Neutrality’: American Merchants and U.S. Foreign Policy in the Caribbean, 1790-1807.” His research interests include, more broadly, the circulation of commercial actors in the early modern Atlantic World, and early North American merchant networking more specifically. While completing both his B.A. and M.A. degrees, Bruce worked as a museum technician in curatorial divisions for the National Park Service at two sites in New Jersey, and continues to enjoy visiting, and learning from, historic sites whenever possible.
